New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a leading state-run engineering and manufacturing enterprise, on Tuesday announced that it has secured two major power sector contracts valued between ₹13,000 crore and ₹15,000 crore. The orders have been awarded by Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Ltd. (MPPGCL) for two supercritical thermal power projects in the state.
In an exchange filing, BHEL confirmed that the notifications of award (NoA) were received on Monday for Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) packages for:
- 1×660 MW Amarkantak Thermal Power Project (Unit No. 6)
- 1×660 MW Satpura Thermal Power Project (Unit No. 12)
Both projects are classified as supercritical thermal power plants, which are designed to improve efficiency and reduce emissions in comparison to subcritical technologies.
Scope of Work and Timelines
The scope of work under the EPC packages includes:
- Supply of critical equipment
- Erection and commissioning
- Civil construction activities
As per the contract terms, each plant is scheduled for completion within 57 months from the date of issuance of the notification of award.
These high-value orders reinforce BHEL’s position as a leading EPC contractor in India’s power generation sector and demonstrate continued trust from state utilities in BHEL’s project execution capabilities.
