Lucknow: In a major administrative exercise aimed at strengthening law and order, the Government of Uttar Pradesh on Monday carried out a large-scale reshuffle in the police department, transferring 27 IPS officers, including one IG-rank officer and 26 SP-rank officers.

The reshuffle has led to the replacement of Superintendents of Police in 13 districts, marking one of the most significant police transfer exercises in recent months under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath.

Officials said the transfers are intended to further streamline policing, improve district-level command and strengthen administrative responsiveness.

13 Districts Get New Police Chiefs

The latest transfer order changes district police leadership in several important districts.

Key districts where police chiefs have been replaced include:

  • Shahjahanpur
  • Etah
  • Rampur
  • Chandauli
  • Firozabad
  • Mau
  • Maharajganj
  • Bahraich

The simultaneous replacement of district police chiefs reflects a strategic administrative reset across multiple sensitive districts.

Key IPS Postings in Latest Transfer Order

Several important field postings have been assigned under the new order.

Major appointments include:

  • Saurabh Dixit appointed as SP, Shahjahanpur
  • Elamaran G. appointed as SSP, Etah
  • Aditya Langeh shifted from Chandauli and posted as SP, Firozabad
  • Somendra Meena appointed as SP, Rampur
  • Shakti Mohan Awasthi appointed as SP, Maharajganj

These postings place new officers in districts considered important for law and order management.

Commissionerate Officers Shifted to District Command

One notable trend in this reshuffle is the movement of officers from commissionerates to district command positions.

Several officers who were serving as Deputy Commissioners of Police in major commissionerates have now been assigned district leadership roles.

This reflects a broader administrative strategy of deploying urban policing experience to district field command.

Important Commissionerate Changes

Lucknow Commissionerate changes include:

  • Amit Kumar Anand posted as DCP, Lucknow
  • Dr. Diksha Sharma transferred from Hamirpur to Lucknow as DCP

District posting from commissionerate

  • Vishwajeet Srivastava shifted from Lucknow and posted as SP, Bahraich

The deployment reflects confidence in officers with commissionerate-level operational exposure.

SPs of Bahraich and Rampur Shifted to PAC

The reshuffle also includes movement of district police chiefs into armed police assignments.

Officials confirmed that officers serving as SPs in:

  • Bahraich
  • Rampur

have been transferred to the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC).

Such transfers are often part of broader rotational policing policy.

PAC Battalions Also See New Commandants

The reshuffle extends beyond civil policing into armed formations.

New PAC command appointments

  • Rajesh Dwivedi appointed Commandant, 38th Battalion PAC, Aligarh
  • Vidyasagar Mishra appointed Commandant, 11th Battalion PAC, Sitapur

SSF Posting in Ayodhya

The Special Security Force also received a fresh appointment.

  • Dr. Durgesh Kumar posted as Commandant, 6th Battalion SSF, Ayodhya

The SSF plays an important role in securing high-sensitivity zones in the state.

Administrative Objective Behind Reshuffle

Officials indicated the reshuffle is intended to:

  • Improve district policing efficiency
  • Strengthen command accountability
  • Rotate officers across field and battalion assignments
  • Enhance law and order preparedness

Given Uttar Pradesh’s size and operational complexity, such reshuffles are periodically undertaken to maintain administrative balance.
