Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has entered into a strategic partnership with Italy-based Nuovo Pignone International s.r.l. to jointly bid for compressor train revamp projects in India’s fertilizer sector. The collaboration is formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on April 9, 2025.
As per the agreement, Nuovo Pignone International will act as the nominated vendor to BHEL with a clearly defined scope of work. The MoU will remain in effect for 10 years from the signing date or until both parties mutually decide otherwise.
In a regulatory filing, BHEL stated that this alliance aims to strengthen its presence in the Renovation and Modernisation (R&M) segment of the fertilizer industry. The partnership is expected to help BHEL secure a 50 percent share in financial terms for compressor revamp opportunities.
The move is seen as a strategic step to expand BHEL’s market share and technical capabilities in the high-potential fertilizer sector by leveraging Nuovo Pignone’s expertise in compressor technology.
