Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday called for transforming the ancient practice of yoga and meditation into a mass movement to build a healthy, balanced, and harmonious society. He said that the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’, articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, can be realised through nation-building rooted in mental peace, healthy living, yoga, and meditation.
The Chief Minister was addressing the first convocation ceremony of coaches and yoga trainers of the Gujarat State Yoga Board, held alongside celebrations marking World Meditation Day.
Yoga and Meditation Key to Physical and Mental Strength
Congratulating the newly certified yoga trainers, the Chief Minister said that yoga enhances physical strength, while meditation improves concentration and mental clarity. He emphasized that the true power of yoga is strengthened by the decision-making ability developed through meditation.
Describing meditation as a priceless gift of India’s ancient tradition, Patel said it is especially relevant in today’s fast-paced and stress-filled life, where mental peace has become essential for overall well-being.

India’s Spiritual Leadership and Global Recognition of Yoga
The Chief Minister highlighted India’s role as a nation that has always provided spiritual guidance to the world. He proudly noted that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has gained global recognition, leading to June 21 being celebrated worldwide as International Yoga Day.
He added that the Prime Minister has consistently promoted yoga as a simple and effective traditional method of preventive healthcare, advocating regular practice of yoga, pranayama, and meditation to stay free from illness.
Preventive Healthcare and Ayushman Bharat
Referring to the Ayushman Bharat healthcare initiative, the Chief Minister said that while yoga helps protect health and prevent disease, the government has also ensured access to quality medical treatment through the Ayushman Bharat scheme for those who may still face serious health issues.
In today’s competitive environment, Patel said, yoga and meditation play a vital role in improving focus, decision-making ability, and inner peace, without any cost or side effects.
