Patna: In a significant step towards making Bihar a leader in fish production, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today visited the newly constructed Fisheries Development Building at Meethapur. The building will serve as a hub to train farmers across the state in scientific and advanced fish farming techniques.
Advanced Facilities to Train Farmers from All Districts
During the inspection, CM Kumar reviewed the conference hall, director’s chamber, and workstations on the first floor, followed by a detailed assessment of facilities on the fourth floor. Officials informed the Chief Minister that the building has been developed under the Fisheries Directorate and will cater to farmers from all 38 districts of Bihar.
The building can simultaneously train 120 farmers and includes a hostel for trainers within its premises. Built on 2.43 acres at a cost of ₹54.39 crore, the facility is equipped with a Fisheries Research Centre and modern laboratories, ensuring advanced research and practical training for fish farmers.
CM Directs Early Operationalization and Safety Measures
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar instructed officials to shift the Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Department to the new building at the earliest. He also emphasized the need for safety railings on all floors and ensuring that all necessary facilities are in place so that fish farmers can fully benefit from the infrastructure.
Bihar’s Push to Become a Leader in Fish Production
The state government has been taking proactive measures to boost agriculture, livestock, and fisheries. Implementation of the Agriculture Roadmap has already increased production of vegetables, milk, eggs, meat, fruits, and other crops, benefiting farmers significantly. With the new Fisheries Development Building, Bihar aims to become a leading state in fish production by equipping farmers with modern techniques and research-based training.
