Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar is all set to launch his 16th mass outreach journey, named “Samriddhi Yatra”, starting from West Champaran on January 16, 2026. The multi-phase program, spread across four to five stages, will cover all 38 districts of Bihar, with visits to key locations in each district.
Since assuming office in 2005, CM Nitish Kumar has consistently undertaken public outreach journeys to directly connect with citizens, understand their issues, and drive welfare-oriented initiatives. The Chief Minister’s travels have been strategically named, reflecting the objectives and theme of each journey.
A Legacy of Public Engagement Since 2005
The tradition began with the “Parivartan Yatra” on July 12, 2005, shortly after Mr. Kumar took charge as Chief Minister. This first journey marked a significant political transition in Bihar, signaling an end to years of administrative stagnation and providing a platform for the public to directly engage with the government. The insights gathered during this journey paved the way for several welfare schemes and reforms.
Since then, CM Kumar has led multiple high-profile journeys, including:
- 2009: Development Yatra (Jan 9), Dhanyavaad Yatra (June 17), and Pravas Yatra (Dec 25)
- 2010: Vishwas Yatra (Apr 28)
- 2011: Seva Yatra (Dec 9)
- 2012: Adhikar Yatra (Sep 19)
- 2014: Sankalp Yatra (Mar 5) and Sampark Yatra (Nov 13)
- 2016: Nishchay Yatra
- 2017: Development Review Yatra
- 2019–2020: Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Yatra (Dec 3 – Jan 10)
- 2021–2022: Samaj Sudhar Abhiyan (Dec 22 – Mar 6)

- 2024–2025: Pragati Yatra (Dec 23 – Feb 21)
Each of these journeys has focused on themes such as development, governance, social reform, environmental sustainability, and citizen engagement, reinforcing CM Kumar’s commitment to staying connected with the people.
16th Journey – Samriddhi Yatra
The upcoming Samriddhi Yatra, beginning on January 16, 2026, aims to further accelerate development and prosperity across Bihar. The program will involve district-level interactions with citizens, review of ongoing initiatives, and assessment of local development needs. With visits planned across all 38 districts, the Yatra is expected to strengthen public participation, enhance governance, and promote socio-economic growth throughout the state.
This will mark CM Nitish Kumar’s 16th public outreach journey, demonstrating his continued focus on citizen-centric governance and the promotion of welfare-driven initiatives.
