Known for Discipline and Innovation in Education Sector
Dr Siddharth has earned a reputation as a no-nonsense, sharp IAS officer, particularly during his tenure in the Education Department. He is widely known for enforcing strict attendance policies in government schools – not only for students but also for teachers. His video call inspections directly from his office to classrooms became a talking point, showcasing his hands-on approach to governance.
He consistently pushed for improved standards in public education, focusing on accountability and direct monitoring. IAS Siddharth’s efforts to ensure student and teacher attendance were often praised as necessary interventions in Bihar’s struggling government education system.
From Bureaucrat to ‘People’s Officer’
Beyond official duties, Dr Siddharth was known for his grassroots engagement – often seen interacting with common people at tea stalls, and even making sweets at local shops during field visits. These gestures earned him popularity beyond bureaucratic circles, portraying him as an officer connected to the ground reality.
VRS Ahead of Retirement, Sparks Election Buzz
Dr Siddharth was scheduled to retire in November 2025, but his early exit under VRS has ignited political speculation. Sources suggest that he may contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, possibly from Nawada district. Reports also hint at the possibility of him getting a Janata Dal (United) ticket, although no official confirmation has been made on this front.
This comes shortly after IAS officer Dinesh Kumar Rai also opted for VRS, adding to the list of bureaucrats stepping down amid growing chatter about political aspirations.
Official Silence, But Buzz Grows Louder
While no formal statement has been issued by either Dr. Siddharth or the Bihar government regarding his resignation or political entry, administrative circles are abuzz. Many view his decision as a strategic move ahead of elections, given his grassroots image and administrative track record.
