Patna: On the occasion of National Girl Child Day, the Bihar Women and Child Development Corporation organized a special event at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Science City, Patna, aimed at inspiring young girls to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The program emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities to girls in education and professional fields.
STEM Education Inspires Young Minds
During the event, students from Raghunath Prasad School, Kendriya Vidyalaya Kankarbagh, and Rabindra Balika +2 School shared their experiences and aspirations. The program also featured a screening of the STEM-based inspirational film ‘Mission Mangal’, which highlighted the achievements of Indian women in space science and technology, motivating the girls to envision similar career paths.
A session was held where students, including Anukriti (Raghunath Prasad School), Kanak (Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kankarbagh), and Akriti Anand (Rabindra Balika +2 School), shared how engaging with STEM education had inspired them to pursue careers in science and technology.

Leadership Emphasizes Girls’ Empowerment Through STEM
Speaking at the event, Yogesh Kumar Sagar, Executive Director of Bihar Women and Child Development Corporation, described STEM education as the foundation of self-reliance for young girls. He stated,
“Scientists like Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams have proven that women are not limited to socially assigned roles. STEM education empowers girls to choose their dreams and realize them independently.”
Bandana Preyashi, Managing Director of the Corporation, added,
“Today, girls from Bihar are making a mark in STEM fields. From AI and engineering to space science and agricultural research, achievers like Aishwarya Verma, Dr. Sapna Sinha, Aarti Gupta, Preeti, and Madhulika Singh are showing that talent cannot be confined by boundaries. Our goal is to ensure that every girl has equal opportunities to grow and succeed.”

Recognition of Young Achievers
The program concluded with a token of appreciation for top-performing students in their respective classes, honoring their achievements and encouraging them to continue pursuing excellence in STEM and other academic areas.
Dignitaries present at the event included Bandana Preyashi (MD, Women & Child Development Corporation), Yogesh Kumar Sagar (Executive Director), Mrignan Singh (Deputy Secretary & Nodal Officer), and Gayatri Kumari (Director, Social Security Directorate). Their presence highlighted the state government’s commitment to girls’ education and empowerment.
