Patna: The Bihar government is taking a significant step to improve rural connectivity by linking villages to key administrative institutions, educational centers, healthcare facilities, banks, markets, and tourist destinations through all-weather roads. The initiative, part of the Accessible Connectivity Plan (Sulah Samparkta Yojana), aims to ensure seamless access for rural populations to essential services and high-level road networks.
72 Projects Identified, 65 Approved
For the financial year 2025-26, a total of 72 rural road projects have been identified under the scheme, of which 65 have already received administrative approval. The projects aim to connect villages to important road networks including National Highways, State Highways, and major district roads, ensuring better accessibility to hospitals, schools, markets, banks, and tourist spots.
The total estimated investment for these projects exceeds ₹515 crore, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving rural infrastructure. Construction work has already begun on 13 of the approved projects.

Statewide Implementation Across 24 Districts
The Accessible Connectivity Plan covers 24 districts in Bihar, with a combined construction of 254.40 kilometers of rural roads. Patna district leads with 20 projects spanning 25.115 kilometers, while Lakhisarai has 14 approved projects. Other districts include:
- Nalanda – 7 projects
- Jehanabad – 6 projects
- Samastipur – 5 projects
- West Champaran and Banka – 3 projects each
- Bhojpur, Gaya, Katihar, and Gopalganj – 2 projects each
- Saran, Sasaram, Aurangabad, Arwal, Sheikhpura, Begusarai, and East Champaran – 1 project each
This strategic plan ensures that rural populations gain access to administrative offices, health and educational facilities, commercial hubs, and tourism centers, while linking local roads with major highway networks for improved mobility.

Officials stated that the initiative would not only make daily commutes easier but also facilitate faster delivery of essential services, boost local trade, and encourage tourism in rural areas. By connecting villages to district and state-level roads, the government aims to foster inclusive growth and integrate rural communities more effectively with urban infrastructure.
