The Bihar government has extended the suspension of Mr. Aditya Kumar, a 2011-batch IPS officer, for another six months until October 2. Mr. Kumar was initially suspended in October 2022 following an FIR lodged by the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) over allegations of making fake calls to the Director General of Police (DGP) in the name of a high court judge.
His suspension has been reviewed and extended five times since then. During this period, he was in Beur Jail from December 5, 2023, to April 25, 2024, after surrendering following the rejection of his anticipatory bail application by the Supreme Court.
After securing bail, Mr. Kumar reported back to headquarters. However, as criminal proceedings against him are still ongoing in court, the Home Department has issued an order to prolong his suspension.
