Patna: In a major initiative aimed at enhancing skill development, practical work experience and economic empowerment of young people, the Bihar government is effectively implementing the Mukhyamantri Pratigya Internship Scheme through the Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM) under the Youth, Employment and Skill Development Department.
The scheme provides a structured platform for Bihar’s youth to gain hands-on experience by working directly with government departments, institutions, corporations and reputed private sector organisations.

Along with government institutions, several leading private companies and industrial groups from across the country have joined the Mukhyamantri Pratigya Internship Scheme. Some industry partners are also offering additional benefits such as financial incentives, food and accommodation facilities, and transportation services, enabling interns to gain valuable national-level work exposure.

Interns gain practical experience in roles such as laboratory assistant, library assistant, data entry operator, social media management, finance, human resources, Hindi typing, and other administrative and technical fields.
The scheme allows interns to work alongside experienced officers and professionals, helping them understand real-world work environments and develop job-ready skills.
Eligibility, Duration and Stipend
The scheme is open to Bihar residents aged 18 to 28 years, offering internship durations ranging from three months to one year. Students from Class 12 to postgraduate level are eligible and receive a monthly stipend of ₹4,000 to ₹6,000, depending on their educational qualifications.
Candidates undertaking internships outside their home district receive an additional ₹2,000 per month for the first three months, along with a one-time assistance of ₹5,000. Those opting for internships outside Bihar are provided financial support through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for the entire internship duration.
Certification and Long-Term Target
Upon successful completion of the internship, candidates are awarded a joint certificate by the Bihar Skill Development Mission and the concerned department. The state government has set an ambitious target of providing internship opportunities to 1,05,000 youth over the next five years, reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment and employment readiness.
