The Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government approved 26 proposals during a cabinet meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Patna on Tuesday. A key highlight of the meeting was the sanctioning of large-scale land acquisition to accelerate industrial development under the Bihar Industrial Investment Encouragement Package, 2025.
Major Allocations for Industrial Zones
The cabinet approved an estimated Rs. 1,200 crore for land acquisition across several districts. The allocations include Rs. 52.62 crore for 249.48 acres in Tarari block of Bhojpur district, Rs. 42.16 crore for 250.06 acres in Chewara block of Sheikhpura district, Rs. 154.07 crore for 492.85 acres in Shivsagar block of Rohtas, and Rs. 105.27 crore for 270.01 acres in Tarayani block of Sheohar.
In Darbhanga, Rs. 376.07 crore has been sanctioned for 385.45 acres in Bahadurpur and Hanuman Nagar blocks, while Purnea received Rs. 66.91 crore for 279.65 acres near the Patna-Purnea Expressway. The largest allocation of Rs. 408.81 crore has been made for 242 acres in Fatuha block, Patna district, where a FinTech City is planned under the GIFT-Saman Industrial Project, strategically located near the Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP).
FinTech City to Transform Patna’s Industrial Landscape
The FinTech City project is the centerpiece of the cabinet approvals and is expected to mark Bihar’s entry into the digital and financial services sector. Designed to attract major fintech and technology firms, the project is set to enhance Patna’s position as a hub for new-age industries.
Administrative Oversight for Smooth Implementation
As per the official statement, the land acquired under these projects will be transferred to the Bihar Industrial Development Authority (BIDA), which will oversee the development process. This structured approach ensures better infrastructure planning, regulatory support, and transparent execution of industrial projects.
Employment Generation and Economic Boost
The Nitish Kumar government has already committed to creating one crore jobs in the next five years. The industrial zones sanctioned in the latest cabinet meeting are expected to play a crucial role in achieving this target by generating large-scale employment and boosting local economies across Bihar.
