Ranchi: Senior officers of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) questioned Swapna Sanchita, wife of suspended IAS officer Vinay Choubey, for the second consecutive day on Sunday regarding the ongoing disproportionate assets (DA) case against her husband.
Interrogation Conducted at Residence
According to sources, ACB Deputy Inspector General Shailendra Prasad Barnwal and an SP-rank officer conducted the interrogation at the couple’s residence in Ranchi. Swapna Sanchita was questioned regarding financial transactions and assets linked to her and her family members, as part of the ACB’s ongoing investigation.
Scope of the DA Case
The DA case was registered against Choubey, his wife Swapna Sanchita, his father-in-law S N Trivedi, brother-in-law Chhipij Trivedi, and Chhipij’s wife Priyanka Trivedi.
Investigations by the ACB revealed that Choubey’s assets, along with those of his relatives, were allegedly 50% higher than their declared income. Substantial money transfers to the bank accounts of Choubey and his family members raised suspicions of disproportionate accumulation of wealth beyond known sources of income.
Current Status of Vinay Choubey
The suspended IAS officer, Vinay Choubey, is currently in jail in Hazaribag in connection with a land-related case. However, he has secured bail in the ongoing Jharkhand liquor scam case. The DA case remains under active investigation by the ACB, with family members being interrogated to ascertain the financial irregularities and sources of unaccounted funds.
