Patna: In a major step to simplify and expand access to online registration services in rural Bihar, the state government has entrusted Jeevika Didis with a new responsibility. Under a joint initiative by the Prohibition, Excise & Registration Department and Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Society (Jeevika), digitally trained women, now being called “Digital Didis” or “Saksham Didis,” will visit villages to assist residents with e-registration and create awareness about the process.
Digital Didis to Facilitate E-Registration in Villages
The selected Jeevika Didis will be trained extensively in computer operations, internet usage, online form submission, document uploads, and e-registration fee payment. To enable them to perform these tasks efficiently, they will be provided with computers, printers, and Wi-Fi facilities. The initiative is expected to launch soon as a pilot project.

Selection Criteria and Training
Priority for selection will be given to Jeevika Didis with educational qualifications such as matriculation, intermediate, computer diplomas, or other technical training. Over 1,000 Didis are expected to be part of this first phase. In addition to general e-registration services, these Digital Didis will also help villagers with marriage registration, adoption registration (Godnama), and other key government services.
Current Jeevika Network in Bihar
Bihar currently has around 1.5 crore active Jeevika Didis across the state. Each block has a Jeevika office employing 805 Didis. Additionally, 270 Didis’ authority centers in rural areas handle issuance of vital documents such as residential certificates.
Expected Impact on Rural Services
This initiative is expected to make e-registration services more accessible, transparent, and faster for rural residents, while also promoting digital literacy and empowerment among women in villages.
