Patna: Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) is set to introduce new bus services from Patna to two popular tourist destinations—Rajgir and Kakolat (Nawada) starting 1 January 2026. The inauguration will be done by Transport Minister Shrawan Kumar, who will flag off the buses on the first day of the new year.

New Bus Services for Tourists

The new services will include one diesel bus on each route with a 40-seater capacity, running daily. These buses aim to provide convenient travel options for tourists and locals traveling from Patna and surrounding districts to these prominent destinations.

  • Rajgir is renowned as an important Buddhist and Jain pilgrimage site, attracting thousands of devotees and tourists annually.
  • Kakolat is famous for its scenic waterfall, offering a popular spot for nature lovers and weekend travelers.

The new services are expected to enhance tourism and provide smoother connectivity between Patna and these cultural and natural attractions.

Special Pink Bus Services for Women

In addition to the tourist buses, two new CNG-based Pink Buses will be launched in Biharsharif exclusively for women passengers. Currently, BSRTC operates 100 Pink Buses successfully across Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Purnia, and Darbhanga.

The Pink Buses are entirely women-operated, with 19 women drivers trained in Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) driving at the IDTR center in Aurangabad. Female conductors have also been appointed to ensure safety and comfort for women passengers.

BSRTC Fleet Overview

BSRTC operates a total of 840 buses across the state:

  • 646 buses owned by BSRTC
  • 194 buses under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model

The fleet includes:

  • 593 Diesel buses
  • 266 CNG buses
  • 25 Electric buses

These efforts reflect the state government’s focus on modernizing public transport, promoting sustainable travel, and enhancing passenger convenience.

Flagging Off Ceremony

Transport Minister Shrawan Kumar will personally flag off the new buses on 1 January, marking the beginning of enhanced connectivity for both tourists and daily commuters in Bihar.

The introduction of these services is expected to boost tourism, promote eco-friendly travel, and provide safe, women-friendly transport options across the state.
