Patna: In a major relief initiative, the Bihar Government has transferred over ₹113 crore directly to the bank accounts of more than 2 lakh farmers affected by the 2025 heavy rainfall and ‘Montha’ cyclone. The disbursement was made under the Agriculture Input Subsidy Scheme, with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar overseeing the process from Sankalp Sabhagar.
Direct Benefit Transfer Ensures Timely Support
The relief amount of ₹113.16 crore was credited through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring transparency and eliminating middlemen. Farmers across 13 severely affected districts—Begusarai, Bhojpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, Kaimur, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, East Champaran, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, and Supaul—received financial support promptly.
Officials stated that this initiative provides farmers with immediate economic support, enabling them to resume agricultural activities and prepare for the upcoming sowing season.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar emphasized, “The state treasury prioritizes disaster-affected farmers. Through the DBT system, we ensure timely and transparent assistance reaches every eligible farmer.”

The event was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav, Principal Secretary of Agriculture Narmdeshwar Lal, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, and other senior officials.
