Patna: The Bihar Police has demonstrated its strong commitment to preventing sexual harassment of women at workplaces. A special awareness and sensitization program was held on Tuesday at the Sardar Patel Bhavan auditorium, focusing on creating safer work environments for women.
The program was attended by senior police officials, legal experts, and representatives of women’s welfare organizations.
DGP Vinay Kumar Highlights Women’s Safety
The chief guest, Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar, emphasized the importance of providing complete security to women at workplaces. He said, “Respecting women is everyone’s duty, and safeguarding their dignity in professional spaces is a priority for the police.”
The program focused on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act), aiming to create awareness and sensitize law enforcement officials and the public about its provisions.

The event was organized under the leadership of ADG (Vulnerable Groups) Amit Kumar Jain. Key speakers included:

- Vandana Sharma from Aakanksha Seva Sadan
- Advocate Sakshit Ali
The program was attended by women police personnel from BISAP and other senior officials, highlighting the department’s focus on gender-sensitive policing.
Focus on Awareness and Training
The program also provided guidance on conducting awareness and sensitization programs at the district level, encouraging local police units to organize POSH Act training sessions and workshops.
Officials underlined the importance of establishing Internal Committees (ICs) at workplaces, educating employees about their rights, and ensuring mechanisms are in place to report and address complaints effectively.
Strengthening Women-Friendly Policing
The initiative reflects Bihar Police’s proactive approach in promoting a safe and respectful work environment for women. By combining legal education, awareness programs, and active participation of women officers, the police aim to prevent sexual harassment and uphold the dignity of women in every workplace across the state.
