Patna: Bihar’s startup ecosystem continues to make waves nationally as Ravichand Sharma, founder of RCX Lighting Private Limited from Chhapra, impressed investors on the popular TV show Shark Tank India, securing an attractive ₹50 lakh offer. This achievement highlights Bihar’s growing reputation not just for civil service success, but also for entrepreneurial innovation.
From Humble Beginnings to National Recognition
Ravichand, the son of an electrician, discovered his passion for lighting and illumination early in life. His school projects earned him national awards in Chandigarh and Kolkata, laying the foundation for his future venture. Inspired by his father and encouraged by Bihar’s Student Credit Card Scheme, he pursued a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering at Chandigarh University, continuing to develop his lighting projects. Eventually, he decided to drop out and focus fully on his startup, RCX Lighting.

RCX: Illuminating Buildings, Locally and Globally
With financial support from Bihar’s Entrepreneurship Scheme (Udyam Yojana) in 2022, RCX scaled its operations, designing affordable digital lighting for buildings inspired by landmarks like the Burj Khalifa. The startup’s innovative solutions have been implemented in projects from Mumbai to Dubai, earning acclaim for its aesthetic appeal and technological innovation.
Shark Tank Recognition and Investment
On Sony TV’s Shark Tank, all investors praised RCX for its unique digital display technology and practical application in architectural lighting. Boat founder Aman Gupta extended an impressive ₹50 lakh investment offer to founders Ravichand Sharma, Ravi Kumar, and Prince Kumar, along with strategic mentorship to help the startup grow further.

RCX’s success underscores the impact of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Entrepreneur Scheme and Student Credit Card initiative, which provide financial support and mentorship for young entrepreneurs.
