The Bihar government is taking steps to address the accommodation problem for female police personnel, who make up more than a quarter of the state’s police force. After receiving approval from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation has initiated the construction of women’s barracks in 116 police stations and outposts across nine districts. Additionally, large-capacity women’s police barracks are being constructed in five districts—Rohtas, Kaimur, Bhojpur, Arwal, and Siwan—with a capacity ranging from 200 to 500 personnel.
To support police operations, ten parking garage sheds and washing pits will also be built in each of these districts for the maintenance of police vehicles. On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone for these projects, which have a total estimated cost of ₹181.84 crore.
Capacity and Construction Details
- In Rohtas (Dehri Police Lines), a G+5 women’s barrack with a capacity of 500 personnel will be built at a cost of ₹18.42 crore.
- Kaimur (Bhabhua), Arwal, and Siwan Police Lines will each have barracks with a capacity of 300 personnel.

A railway police station with an attached barrack will be constructed in Bihta, Patna.
Additionally, women’s police barracks will be set up in multiple police stations:
