Mumbai, June 20, 2025 — Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), one of India’s leading oil and gas public sector undertakings, has announced a significant change in its Board of Directors. As per a directive from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG), Government of India, Shri Asheesh Joshi has been appointed as the new Government Nominee Director on BPCL’s Board.
The appointment, formalized through a ministry communication dated June 19, 2025, takes effect from June 20, 2025. Mr. Joshi will serve a term of three years or until further notice, whichever is earlier. He also assumes the role of Additional Director on the company’s Board.
Profile of Shri Asheesh Joshi
Shri Asheesh Joshi is a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 2006 batch (Uttarakhand cadre). He brings a wide range of administrative and governance experience to BPCL. Prior to this appointment, he served as Secretary (Additional Charge) in the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department of the Uttarakhand government. His past roles also include leadership positions across critical departments such as Housing, Finance, Energy, Tourism, and Rural Development.
BPCL clarified that Mr. Joshi is not debarred or disqualified under any SEBI regulations or government orders and has no familial relationships with the existing Board of Directors or Key Managerial Personnel.
Departure of Smt. Kamini Chauhan Ratan
Concurrent with Mr. Joshi’s appointment, Smt. Kamini Chauhan Ratan’s term as Government Nominee Director concluded on June 20, 2025. BPCL extended its sincere appreciation for her valuable contributions during her tenure.
This leadership transition aligns with standard governance practices and reflects continued collaboration between BPCL and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to strengthen board-level oversight and administrative efficiency.
