The Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance has issued an official order detailing the distribution of functional roles and zonal supervision among the six Members of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). The newly notified responsibilities cover oversight of key Directorates General as well as regional Principal Chief Commissioners of Income Tax (Pr. CCITs).
Here is the updated allocation:
- Prabodh Seth (IRS-IT:1989), serving as Member (Administration), has been assigned the supervision of Principal DGIT (HRD), Principal DGIT (Training), and DGIT (Vigilance). He will continue to oversee the West Zone, which includes Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur.
- Ramesh Narain Parbat (IRS-IT:1989), Member (Legislation), will now handle matters related to Tax Policy and Legislation (TPL), Foreign Tax & Tax Research (FT&TR), and the Principal CCIT (International Taxation). He retains responsibility for the North Zone, covering Delhi, Uttar Pradesh (East and West), Uttarakhand, and the North Western Region (NWR).
- Pankaj Kumar Mishra (IRS-IT:1989), Member (TPS&R), will oversee the Principal DGIT (Administration & TPS). His zonal responsibility lies with the East Zone, comprising West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and the North Eastern Region (NER).
- Sanjay Bahadur (IRS-IT:1989), as Member (Income Tax), will supervise the Principal CCIT (Exemption). He has been given charge of the Southern Zone, which includes Karnataka & Goa, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
- L. Raj Shekhar Reddy (IRS-IT:1989), Member (S&FS), has been entrusted with the supervision of DGIT (Systems), Principal CCIT (NFAC), and Principal CCIT (NaFAC). He will be In-charge of the Kerala and Tamil Nadu zone.
- G. Aparna Rao (IRS-IT:1989), Member (Audit & Judicial), will now supervise the DGIT (Legal & Research) and has been assigned zonal oversight of the Central Zone, comprising Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
