New Delhi: In a significant administrative development within the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has promoted five senior officers to the rank of Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT). The promotions have been approved for the panel year 2025, as per an official order issued by the Ministry of Finance.
The officers elevated to Level 16 of the pay matrix are-
- Pankaj Kumar
- Vandana Verma
- Vivek Kumar
- Rakesh Gupta
- Yagyasaini Kakkar
The promotions have been granted on an in-situ basis, meaning the officers will continue to hold their existing positions until formal transfer and posting orders are issued.
This move is part of the routine cadre management undertaken by the CBDT to strengthen leadership across the Income Tax Department, especially at the level of senior supervisory and administrative functions. These promotions are expected to enhance operational efficiency and strategic oversight in tax administration and compliance enforcement.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes, under the Ministry of Finance, is responsible for policy formulation and administration of direct taxes in India and regularly undertakes personnel management to streamline governance and strengthen tax structures.
