New Delhi/Hyderabad: CBI Director Praveen Sood, an IPS officer of 1986 batch from Karnataka cadre, was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad on Saturday morning following sudden health complications. Hospital authorities have confirmed that his condition is currently stable and he is under observation.
Fell Ill After Returning from Srisailam Temple Visit
Sood, who was in Telangana for an official and spiritual visit, traveled to Srisailam on Friday to offer prayers at the renowned Bhramarambika and Mallikarjuna Swamy temples. According to sources, the CBI chief developed health issues on his return journey to Hyderabad the following morning.
Upon reaching Hyderabad, he was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Jubilee Hills, where he is currently receiving medical care.
Spiritual Visit Followed by Strategic Meetings
Before his health episode, Praveen Sood held internal discussions with CBI officials in the city. Though the visit was partly spiritual in nature, it also included official engagements, reflecting the CBI’s increasing involvement in sensitive probes within Telangana.
Backdrop of Kaleshwaram Project Probe Request
Sood’s visit to Telangana gains significance as it comes shortly after the Telangana government formally requested a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP)—a highly sensitive and politically charged issue in the state.
While there has been no official confirmation linking Sood’s visit to the Kaleshwaram probe discussions, the timing has raised considerable political and media interest.
Hospital Sources Confirm Stable Condition
Medical personnel at the hospital have stated that the CBI Director is in a stable condition and undergoing further tests. He is expected to remain under observation for the next 24–48 hours. No official statement has yet been issued by the CBI regarding his health.
