Bengal cadre IPS officer Tathagata Basu was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the illegal coal trading case. The CBI asked Basu that if he had knowledge of such rackets operating in West Bengal. Basu was posted as SP Hoogly earlier.
The CBI officials questioned IPS Basu from 10.30 am to 5 PM.
It was earlier alleged by the CBI that Anup Maji alias Lala had been running the coal mining racket through the Asansol-Durgapur-Hooghly area.
Officials wanted to know the steps police had taken to prevent the illegal trade in the area.
