New Delhi, May 23, 2025: The Central Government has approved several high-level bureaucratic appointments and tenure extensions, according to orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday.
Anwesh Kumar Aileni (IRSME:2013) has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) under the Department of Commerce for a tenure of four years. His appointment, cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, is under the Central Staffing Scheme and takes effect from the date he assumes charge. Notably, this position has been created by downgrading a vacant post of Additional Director General of Foreign Trade (ADGFT) in the DGTR.
In another major development, the tenure of Rakesh Kumar Pandey (IDAS:2003) as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has been extended by one year. Pandey originally joined the MHA in May 2018 as Director and was later elevated to Joint Secretary following his empanelment in 2024. This marks his first extension in the JS role, effective beyond May 13, 2025, or until further orders.
Meanwhile, the government has also approved the extension of tenure for Dr. M Ravichandran as Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, by one year beyond superannuation. His term will now continue from June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, or until further orders. Dr. Ravichandran, who has held the post since October 2021, previously served as Director of the National Centre for Ocean and Polar Research, Goa.
These decisions highlight the government’s continued efforts to ensure administrative continuity and policy stability in key strategic departments.
