Dehradun: In a major push to strengthen grassroots sports infrastructure, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the completion of over 102 mini stadiums and 157 playgrounds across the state. Highlighting the vision behind the move, he stated that this development is not just about infrastructure but about empowering youth and helping them achieve their dreams.

The state is also focusing on tourism diversification by developing Uttarakhand into a global wedding destination. Scenic locations like Chopta, Duggalbitta, and Patwadangar are being developed, while cities such as Ramnagar, Dehradun, and Rishikesh are already popular choices.

A dedicated wedding destination policy is also in progress to support this initiative.

Focus on Rural Development and Agriculture

  • Over 6,000 homestays registered under the state scheme
  • Launch of “Uttarastays” – a free marketing portal
  • Establishment of fruit Centres of Excellence in Chaubatia for apple, cherry, plum, and pear cultivation
  • Training programs for farmers

Under the Vibrant Village Programme, border villages are being developed by promoting local culture, cuisine, and handicrafts.

A Vision for Holistic Growth

CM Dhami emphasized that with consistent support from the central government, Uttarakhand is achieving new milestones in infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, and youth development.

The state’s multi-sector initiatives reflect a broader vision of sustainable growth while preserving its cultural and natural heritage.
