Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday accused BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) of openly threatening IAS and IPS officers and misleading the student community with false promises.
Addressing the media, Chamala said KTR’s claims of “punishing” police officials after returning to power in three years were not expressions of confidence but acts of intimidation. “This is not leadership; it’s coercion,” he remarked, warning that such statements are deeply undemocratic, especially from someone who held administrative power for a decade.
“You were voted out because of this arrogance. Don’t live in the illusion of a comeback,” Chamala said, urging KTR to stop targeting bureaucrats and to respect democratic institutions.
The MP also aimed KTR’s development narrative, alleging that the visible benefits in rural areas like ration cards, Indiramma housing, and free bus travel were all Congress initiatives. “KTR keeps boasting about ten years of development, but the reality on the ground tells a different story,” he said.
Chamala further accused KTR of abusing his authority during his tenure by indulging in phone tapping and suppressing dissent. “That’s not just unethical, it’s criminal,” he said.
Responding to KTR’s criticism of Sonia Gandhi’s letter to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Chamala said the former Congress president was right to praise the state’s caste survey and appreciated the CM’s commitment. “It seems KTR simply cannot handle the fact that the Chief Minister’s popularity is growing, and the rest of the country is acknowledging it,” he added.
