In a late-night development on Wednesday, the Chhattisgarh government made significant changes within the state’s police force, transferring several IPS officers. The transfers were formalized through an order issued by Chhattisgarh Government Police Department Under Secretary DS Dhurve.
Lal Umed Singh, a 1996 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) for Raipur. Singh, who has an extensive career in the police force, has previously served in multiple roles in districts including Bastar, Raigarh, Korba, Raipur, and Durg. Known for his involvement in Naxal encounters, Singh was also part of the Intelligence Wing at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) between 2015 and 2017.
In other transfers, 2011 batch IPS officer Santosh Kumar Singh has been temporarily posted as Assistant Inspector General of Police at the Police Headquarters in Atal Nagar, Raipur, until further orders.
2015 batch IPS officer Suraj Singh Parihar will take charge at the 14th Battalion in Dhanora, District Balod, while Ravi Kurre has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police for Korea, taking charge of the 18th Battalion in Manendragarh.
Additionally, Harish Rathore has been assigned as the Chief Minister’s Security Superintendent of Police (SP), responsible for overseeing the VIP security in the state. Rathore, previously in charge of the VIP Battalion Mana, will now focus on ensuring the safety of the Chief Minister.
These transfers come as the state prepares for the one-year anniversary of the Chhattisgarh Sai government on December 13.
