Raipur: In a significant step to boost tourism and residential infrastructure, the Chhattisgarh government has allocated 4.80 hectares (12 acres) of land in Mainpat, often called the “Shimla of Chhattisgarh,” for the development of a modern, multi-utility tourism-residential complex under the Atal Vihar scheme. The project will be undertaken by the Chhattisgarh Housing Board (Grih Nirman Mandal).
Anurag Singh Dev, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Housing Board, said that the construction of the complex will begin soon and will be designed in harmony with the natural environment. “This project will provide tourists visiting Manpat with safe, comfortable, and affordable accommodation while enhancing the overall tourism experience,” he said.
Project Backed by State Leadership
Singh Dev added that the initiative is being implemented under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, with active support from Housing & Environment Minister O.P. Chaudhary and Tourism Minister Rajesh Agrawal. He emphasized that the growing number of tourists in Manpat has long highlighted the need for such high-quality facilities.

Boosting Tourism and Local Economy
Chairman Singh Dev said the project will not only enhance tourism in Manpat but also create local employment opportunities and expand possibilities in the hospitality sector. High-quality accommodation facilities are expected to increase tourists’ stay duration, thereby strengthening the local economy.
Housing & Environment Minister O.P. Chaudhary highlighted that Manpat is a unique and emerging tourism destination in Chhattisgarh. “With the rapid increase in tourist footfall, modern infrastructure has become essential. The Housing Board’s initiative will provide a new direction to tourism, residential development, and the local economy while firmly placing Manpat on the national tourism map,” he said.
Tourism Minister Rajesh Agrawal described the project as a milestone in Chhattisgarh’s tourism expansion, emphasizing that modern facilities will enhance visitor experiences and strengthen the state’s hospitality sector.
