New Delhi: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has announced a major welfare initiative for its personnel with the launch of a dedicated online welfare portal from September 1. The platform will enable CISF members to apply directly for loans, scholarships, and medical assistance, ensuring quicker access and reduced financial strain.
Affordable Loans with Lower Interest Rates
Under the new scheme, CISF personnel can now avail personal loans up to ₹5 lakh, a significant increase from earlier limits. The interest rate has been slashed from 6% to 3%, while the repayment period has been extended from three to five years. This move aims to reduce the financial burden on soldiers and their families.
Online Applications and Medical Bill Reimbursement
Replacing the manual process, the online portal will streamline applications, ensuring processing within 15 days and direct credit of funds to accounts. A new provision will also cover unpaid medical bills, offering relief to personnel and their families who often bear healthcare expenses from their own savings.
Expanded Scholarships for Children
Children of CISF personnel scoring above 80% marks will now be eligible for the prestigious DG Scholarship. The scholarship amount for children of martyrs has also been increased, with no cap on the number of beneficiaries. This initiative aims to provide equal opportunities for higher education across CISF families.
Retirement and Welfare Benefits
At retirement, CISF personnel will now receive ₹1.25 lakh under the risk-saving payment scheme, helping secure their post-service lives. Additionally, funds will be allocated at the unit level for morale-boosting activities, further enhancing welfare at the grassroots.
Funding Without Added Burden
All these initiatives will be financed through the CISF Welfare Fund, with an allocation exceeding ₹100 crore. The force has clarified that the programs will not impose any additional financial burden on personnel, as the reforms are driven by better internal fund management.
