Bihar Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar has launched a new flagship initiative titled CM-PRATIGYA (Chief Minister – Promotion of Readiness, Awareness and Technical Insights for Guiding Youth Advancement) to equip the state’s youth with technical skills, internship opportunities, and financial support. The scheme has been approved under the state’s Saat Nischay-2 (Seven Resolves Part 2) development agenda.
Monthly Financial Support for Skill Training & Internships
Under CM-PRATIGYA, the Bihar government will provide monthly financial assistance to youth participating in skill training or internships. The support structure includes:
- Rs. 4,000/month for youth who have passed Class 12 and are undergoing skill training
- Rs. 5,000/month for ITI or diploma holders in training
- Rs. 6,000/month for graduates or postgraduates participating in internships
The state aims to facilitate internships for one lakh youth across various sectors between 2025-26 and 2030-31, with a strong focus on employability and leadership development.
A Vision for a Skilled, Self-Reliant Generation
Taking to social media platform X, Mr. Nitish Kumar expressed satisfaction over the cabinet’s approval and funding allocation. He described the CM-PRATIGYA scheme as a visionary initiative to create a skilled, self-reliant, and job-ready youth population.
“This scheme will open up better employment and leadership avenues for the youth. It is a significant step toward shaping their future,” the Chief Minister wrote.
Election-Year Push for Youth Empowerment
The timing of the scheme’s launch is also significant, coming ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections slated for later this year. With unemployment and youth development emerging as key voter concerns, the CM-PRATIGYA scheme is seen as a strategic and populist move to gain public support, especially from the youth demographic.
Part of Bihar’s Broader Employment Mission
The CM-PRATIGYA scheme aligns with Bihar’s broader employment mission that integrates education, vocational training, and real-world experience. Officials believe the scheme will play a pivotal role in enhancing job-readiness and reducing the state’s dependency on traditional government employment.
Mr. Nitish Kumar reaffirmed the government’s long-term commitment:
“We are determined to empower our youth and provide them with ample employment opportunities to secure their futures.”
The initiative marks a major step in Bihar’s journey toward a skilled economy, making youth development a central pillar of its growth strategy.
