Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the newly constructed Gorakhnath Overbridge on Friday evening, a modern infrastructure project built at a cost of ₹137 crore. The overbridge, equipped with advanced engineering technology, aims to enhance connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and support the city’s rapid urban development.
CM Lauds Citizens and Highlights Development Efforts
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister congratulated the citizens of Gorakhpur for the completion of the overbridge, emphasizing the importance of citizen support in achieving development milestones. He underlined that under the BJP’s “Double Engine” government, public funds are now being effectively used for state-wide development, unlike previous administrations, which he claimed had misused resources for personal gains.
CM Adityanath remarked, “Eight years ago, this city struggled with disease, poor sanitation, lawlessness, mafia influence, and electricity shortages. People were deprived of basic development. Today, the pace of the Double Engine government has brought real change, giving Uttar Pradesh a renewed identity and confidence.”

Nationwide Development Initiatives and Welfare Measures
The Chief Minister highlighted the state and central government’s welfare initiatives, including free ration for the poor, healthcare services, LPG connections, electricity access for all, and other social benefits. He stressed that these schemes are being implemented without discrimination, ensuring that development reaches every citizen.
CM Adityanath also praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that India is emerging as a strong nation on the global stage, with large-scale development projects in roads, railways, and air connectivity being implemented while prioritizing public convenience.
Gorakhpur’s Transformation and Key Projects
The Chief Minister detailed the city’s transformation, including the revival of the fertilizer plant, improvements in traffic management, construction of four-lane roads, and enhanced connectivity with Lucknow, Varanasi, and other major cities. He also mentioned the development of Ramgarh Tal as a major tourist destination, transforming the city’s old image of crime and neglect.
Additionally, CM Adityanath highlighted the establishment of medical colleges in several districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, strengthening the region’s healthcare and educational infrastructure.
Allegations Against Previous Governments
Targeting former administrations, the Chief Minister accused them of mismanagement and corruption, claiming that public funds were misappropriated and used for personal or familial gain. He said, “The previous government emptied the state treasury in the pursuit of filling personal coffers. Now, we have redirected those resources to development projects, and the results are visible.”
