Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday inaugurated a series of new transport department services, laying emphasis on rural connectivity, digitalisation, and road safety. At a function held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, he launched initiatives ranging from rural bus services to digital platforms aimed at modernising Uttar Pradesh’s transport infrastructure.
Focus on Road Safety
Calling road safety the biggest challenge, CM Yogi said negligence will not be tolerated. He directed that bus drivers undergo mandatory fitness tests every three months along with periodic eye check-ups. “Road safety cannot be compromised,” he stressed, while instructing officials to work with IIT Kharagpur to integrate technology for reducing accidents below the national average.

Digital and Citizen-Friendly Services
The CM launched transport department services through over 1.5 lakh Common Service Centres (CSCs), signed an MoU between CSCs and the transport corporation, and distributed certificates to investors of four scrapping centres and four automatic testing centres.

Empowering Women in Transport
Under the National Rural Livelihood Mission, CM Yogi handed appointment letters to three of nearly 2,000 women conductors recruited by the transport corporation, highlighting women’s growing role in public transport.
Infrastructure Development
He laid the foundation stone for seven new bus stations to be built on a PPP model at a cost of ₹851 crore and inaugurated/laid foundation for 25 other stations worth ₹85 crore.
Push for Green and Modern Fleet
In a major step toward clean mobility, the CM flagged off a fleet including:
- 8 double-decker electric buses
- 16 electric buses
- 1 retrofitted electric bus
- 10 CNG buses
- 2 air-conditioned buses
- 20 Tata buses, 43 Eicher buses, and 400 BS-VI buses
Additionally, 11 interceptor vehicles for the Transport Commissioner’s organisation were introduced to enhance enforcement and monitoring.

Future Vision
CM Yogi underlined the importance of electric vehicles in pollution control and as the future of mobility. He urged transport officials to connect directly with citizens to resolve their problems and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modern, safe, and eco-friendly transport systems.
The event was attended by Transport Minister, Principal Secretary Amit Gupta, Transport Commissioner Brajesh Narayan Singh, Managing Director Masoom Ali Sarwar, and senior officials of the department and corporation.
