On the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath led a mass yoga session at the Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur on Friday morning. The event witnessed participation from around 1,500 people, including public representatives and citizens, and commenced at 6 am. Among the attendees were Gorakhpur MP Mr. Ravi Kishan and Jal Shakti Minister Mr. Swatantra Dev Singh.
Simultaneously, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Keshav Prasad Maurya led a yoga event in Ghaziabad, while Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Brajesh Pathak participated in a session at the Residency in Lucknow. Several cabinet ministers also presided over yoga programmes across various districts, highlighting the state-wide scale of the celebrations.
Following the session, CM Yogi addressed the gathering, extending greetings to all on the occasion of International Yoga Day. He emphasized yoga as a mantra for maintaining good health, noting, “Desires are fulfilled by a healthy body, and yoga is the medium to achieve it.” He further added that yoga is deeply rooted in India’s ancient sage tradition and now serves as a tool for public and global welfare.
He credited Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for taking yoga to the global stage, remarking that the practice has now gained recognition in nearly 190 countries. CM Yogi also highlighted how yoga contributes to personality development and even helps in understanding the deeper mysteries of the universe.
100 Yoga Parks Built Across Uttar Pradesh
Underscoring the government’s commitment to promoting yoga as a daily health habit, CM Yogi mentioned that the Uttar Pradesh government has developed over 100 dedicated yoga parks in urban areas. These parks, built in accordance with Ministry of AYUSH standards, align with this year’s International Day of Yoga theme: “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
Spiritual Legacy and Global Message
Describing yoga as a bridge between physical health and spiritual growth, CM Yogi said, “Through yoga, we reach higher states of consciousness, as envisioned by our sages.” He reiterated the government’s vision of using yoga not only as a tool for individual well-being but also as a means to promote peace and harmony worldwide.
