New Delhi: In a significant move toward sustainable mining and environmental restoration, Coal India Limited (CIL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Heartfulness Institute to implement green development initiatives across its mining regions.
The MoU was signed in the presence of key dignitaries, including Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister for Coal & Mines; Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Minister of State for Coal & Mines; Smt. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal; P.M. Prasad, Chairman of CIL; and Achyut Ghatak, Director (Technical), CIL.
Transforming Mining Landscapes
The collaboration seeks to restore and rejuvenate degraded mining ecosystems and promote biodiversity through the development of:
- Eco-parks and rainforests
- Afforestation and biodiversity forests
- Community-driven projects in closed, abandoned, and operational mine sites
This initiative aligns with CIL’s commitment to environmental stewardship, climate responsibility, and community welfare.

Supporting Coal Transport with Infrastructure Upgrades
