New Delhi: Coal India Limited (CIL) has signed a Non-Binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Non-Ferrous Materials Technology Development Centre (NFTDC), an autonomous research and development institution under the Ministry of Mines. The agreement, which was executed on March 15 in Hyderabad, aims to enhance technology development and expertise in the field of critical minerals.
According to a regulatory filing shared by CIL with the stock exchanges on Tuesday, the collaboration is expected to drive innovation and strengthen India’s capabilities in the extraction and processing of essential minerals. These minerals are crucial for various industrial applications, including the growing sectors of renewable energy, electric vehicles, and advanced manufacturing.
This MoU is part of CIL’s strategic move to expand its technological footprint beyond coal mining, diversifying into critical minerals that are essential to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving industrial landscape. The partnership with NFTDC is poised to further India’s leadership in the sustainable development and utilization of critical minerals.
