Kolkata: Coal India Limited (CIL) successfully concluded its Three-Month Preventive Vigilance Awareness Campaign along with Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) 2025 at its Corporate Office in Kolkata, reaffirming its strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical governance across the organisation.
Vigilance as Core Organisational Value
Addressing the concluding ceremony, Chairman Mr. B. Sairam said that vigilance is deeply ingrained in Coal India’s organisational culture and must continue to thrive on the pillars of trust, transparency, and probity. He emphasized that ease in performing duties and responsible discharge of roles are essential for creating a healthy work environment, which in turn supports efficiency, ease of doing business, and sustainable growth. He urged employees to act as Vigilance Ambassadors by aligning personal priorities with organisational goals to uphold transparency and accountability.

Directors Stress Proactive and Ethical Conduct
Director (Marketing) Mr. Mukesh Choudhary highlighted the importance of timely redressal of customer concerns, cautioning that indecision and delays can also lead to vigilance implications.
Director (Finance) Mr. Mukesh Agrawal noted that vigilance should not be treated as an optional activity but as a fundamental organisational obligation. He stressed that Vigilance Awareness Week must evolve from an annual event into a continuous commitment embedded in Coal India’s daily work culture.
Director (Business Development) Mr. Asheesh Kumar stated that vigilance principles have been integrated across business development processes, making ethical governance a way of life in value-driven operations.
Participative and Proactive Vigilance Approach
In his welcome address, Chief Vigilance Officer Mr. Brajesh Kumar Tripathy outlined the guiding principles of Reform, Transform, Perform, and Inform. He reiterated that Coal India’s Vigilance Division follows a participative, proactive, and positive approach, encouraging employees to take bold decisions with bona fide intent and without fear.
Felicitations and Conclusion
The ceremony also witnessed the felicitation of departments and individuals from the Corporate Office and subsidiaries, along with Kolkata-based academic institutions and students, for their outstanding contributions during the vigilance campaign and VAW 2025. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Director (HR) Dr. Vinay Ranjan.
