New Delhi: Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) has appointed Mr. S.G. Venkatesh as Director (Technical) on its Board, effective from January 5, 2026. The appointment, approved by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), was disclosed under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations.
Venkatesh Brings Over Three Decades of Expertise
Mr. Venkatesh brings more than 31 years of experience in the petroleum and petrochemical industry. He previously served as Executive Director (Petrochemicals) at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), where he led the company’s entire petrochemical business, driving revenue growth and shaping long-term strategies.
A Chemical Engineering graduate from the University of Kerala, Mr. Venkatesh has extensive expertise in refinery operations, petrochemical manufacturing, plant design, process optimization, and production planning. His experience also includes the execution of grassroots and revamp projects, as well as advanced process simulations using tools like Pro-II, Aspen Plus, and HYSYS.

Focus on Strengthening Technical Leadership
CPCL stated that the appointment of Mr. Venkatesh is aimed at reinforcing the company’s technical leadership and supporting its strategic growth initiatives in refining and petrochemical operations. His leadership is expected to enhance operational efficiency, optimize production processes, and contribute to CPCL’s long-term growth objectives.
Regulatory Compliance and Board Independence
The company confirmed that Mr. Venkatesh is not debarred from holding the office of Director by any regulatory authority and is not related to any existing Board members.
