In a significant move, A. Asholi Chalai, an officer from the Central Secretariat Service (CSS: 1987), has been granted an in-situ upgradation to the rank of Additional Secretary in the National Commission for Women (NCW). This decision, made official through an order from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Saturday, February 22, 2025, follows the approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Chalai, who was serving as Joint Secretary in the NCW, has now received the elevation while continuing in his role at the commission. The upgradation comes just over a month after Chalai was empanelled on January 10, 2025, alongside 27 other officers, for Additional Secretary-level positions within the Government of India.
