New Delhi: The Government of India has made significant appointments in two key departments under the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Davinder Suman, an Indian Forest Service officer, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation. Meanwhile, Vickey Kumar, an Indian Postal Service officer, has been appointed as Director in the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM).
Davinder Suman Appointed Deputy Secretary in Water Resources Department
Davinder Suman, a dedicated officer of the Indian Forest Service (IFS) belonging to the Assam cadre, has been selected for the post of Deputy Secretary in the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation. This department operates under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, which focuses on water resource management and river conservation initiatives, including the ambitious Ganga rejuvenation program.
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change recommended Suman for central deputation. The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) has formally issued the appointment order, which specifies that Suman will serve in this role for a period of four years or until further instructions, whichever comes earlier. The tenure will commence from the date she assumes charge of the post.
Vickey Kumar Appointed Director in Office of CGPDTM
In a parallel appointment, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved Vickey Kumar, an Indian Postal Service (IPoS) officer from the 2010 batch, for the role of Director in the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM), located in New Delhi. This office functions under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), which is a key department under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The Department of Personnel and Training has issued an Office Memorandum confirming Kumar’s deputation appointment at Level 13 in the Pay Matrix of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC). His tenure will extend for five years or until further orders, whichever comes first. The memorandum also emphasizes the need for Kumar’s immediate relief from his current duties to enable a smooth transition to his new position.
Significance of the Appointments
These appointments underscore the government’s commitment to filling strategic positions with experienced officers, ensuring effective implementation of key national programs and policies. Davinder Suman’s role in the Ministry of Jal Shakti will be crucial in advancing water resource management and the Ganga rejuvenation efforts. On the other hand, Vickey Kumar’s appointment in CGPDTM will contribute to strengthening India’s intellectual property framework, supporting innovation and industrial growth.
