New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) successfully hosted the UITP India Urban Rail Conference 2025, the biennial flagship event of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) in India. Held on 9th October in New Delhi, the conference brought together national and international experts to focus on one of the most pressing challenges of modern public transport — cybersecurity in urban rail systems.
The event was graced by Dr. Gulshan Rai, former and first National Cyber Security Coordinator to the Prime Minister’s Office, Government of India, who attended as the Chief Guest and delivered the keynote address.
Key Focus: Cybersecurity in Urban Rail Systems
With the rapid digitization of metro rail operations, cybersecurity has become a mission-critical component of infrastructure resilience. The conference theme, “Cyber Resilient Metro: Building Secure Urban Mobility Systems,” addressed this concern head-on.
Several vital topics were explored during the sessions, including:
- Modernising Metro Rail: The Intersection of IT and OT (Operational Technology)
- Securing Operational Technology in Metro Rail: A Lifecycle Approach
- Roadmap for Urban Rail Systems in India and Abroad
Talks and panel discussions highlighted innovations, technological upgrades, and global best practices in building cyber-secure, sustainable, and efficient metro rail networks.
International Collaboration and Expert Participation
The conference saw the participation of over 200 delegates, including representatives from metro systems and urban transport authorities across France, Canada, Spain, Portugal, and Austria. This diverse participation underscored the international importance of collaboration in enhancing the safety and efficiency of mass transit systems.
The event provided a global platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and the promotion of cyber-resilient solutions tailored for the growing urban rail sector.
