The Department of Defence Production has approved the assignment of additional charge of Director (Production & Marketing) to Dr. S.V.S. As per an official exchange filing, Dr. Murty will take over the additional responsibilities starting from July 1, 2025, for an initial period of three months. The appointment may continue until a regular incumbent is appointed or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Dr. Murty, who assumed charge as CMD of MIDHANI on April 28, brings with him a rich academic and professional background in metallurgical engineering. He holds a B.E. from Andhra University, an M.E. from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay.
He began his career at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in 1993, where he contributed to the development of advanced alloys such as ultrahigh strength steels, titanium, and superalloys. Between 2003 and 2006, he undertook postdoctoral research at Japan’s National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), focusing on ultrafine-grained steels.
Before joining MIDHANI, Dr. Murty was associated with the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) of ISRO in Trivandrum, where he led critical materials development for India’s space missions. His expertise includes aerospace materials, additive manufacturing, and failure analysis of space components.
Dr. Murty’s additional appointment is expected to enhance MIDHANI’s strategic production and marketing efforts, aligning with the nation’s defence indigenization goals.
