New Delhi: The Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) Scientific Analysis Group (SAG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The agreement marks a strategic step to accelerate research and academic collaboration in emerging defence technologies.
Focus on Cutting-Edge Defence Research
The partnership will strengthen work in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), big data analytics, and natural language processing (NLP). These areas are increasingly critical to modern warfare and national security. Applications will include advanced machine translation, information retrieval, and secure data management for defence systems.
Bridging Academia and Defence Innovation
Through the MoU, JNU students and researchers will gain hands-on exposure to real-world defence challenges. In turn, DRDO will leverage academic expertise to develop indigenous technologies. The collaboration aims to create a self-reliant ecosystem where government and academia work together to address India’s strategic needs.
Strengthening India’s Self-Reliance in Technology
This initiative is expected to fast-track innovation in advanced digital systems, enabling India to reduce dependence on external sources. By combining DRDO’s defence expertise with JNU’s academic resources, the partnership will enhance India’s capability in cyber and AI-driven warfare domains.
