Visakhapatnam: Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) has reported a significant turnaround in its financial performance for the fourth quarter of FY 2024-25, posting a net profit of Rs 21.39 crore. This marks a remarkable recovery from the Rs 25.97 crore loss reported in the same period of the previous fiscal year, 2023-24.

The company’s total income surged by 67% to Rs 464.38 crore during the January-March 2025 quarter, up from Rs 278.80 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, primarily driven by increased revenue across its operations.

In a statement to PTI, DCI’s Managing Director and CEO, Durgesh Kumar Dubey, expressed satisfaction with the company’s performance, saying, “We have ended the fourth quarter delivering positive financial numbers. We will try to maintain this momentum in the coming quarters.”

DCI is actively exploring business opportunities in the Middle East, South East Asia, and South Asia, alongside the domestic market. According to Dubey, major players in the port sector, such as AMNS India, JSW Group, and Adani Group, are expanding their port operations, which presents significant growth prospects for DCI.

Looking ahead, Dubey remains optimistic about the outlook for the port sector, citing government-led initiatives like the Sagarmala Programme as key drivers of growth in the industry.

Headquartered in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, DCI is one of India’s leading dredging companies. It operates under the administrative control of four major Indian ports: Visakhapatnam Port Authority, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (Mumbai), Paradip Port Authority, and Deendayal Port Authority (Kandla).

As the company focuses on sustaining its recent financial success, DCI’s expansion efforts in both domestic and international markets will be crucial in capitalizing on the growing global port and infrastructure development trends.

About Dredging Corporation of India Limited

DCI is now controlled by four government-owned port trusts, which themselves are public sector entities. Established in 1976, the Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCI) is a premier public sector undertaking headquartered in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Operating under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, DCI specializes in providing comprehensive dredging and maritime services to major ports, the Indian Navy, fishing harbors, and other maritime organizations across India.

DCI does dredging for Indian seaports exclusively. It occasionally dredges at foreign seaports in countries such as Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Dubai. It is mainly involved in maintenance dredging. Almost all the maintenance dredging in Indian seaports is carried out by DCI due to government regulations. DCI is also involved in capital dredging, beach nourishment, and land reclamation. The main seaports in which DCI does business are Visakhapatnam Port, Haldia, Kandla, Cochin Port and Ennore Port.
