New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), in coordination with the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), has officially invited applications for the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL). The move comes as ECIL seeks visionary leadership to further its strategic objectives in critical sectors such as Nuclear Energy, Defence, and Aerospace. The last date for submission of applications is set for January 20, 2026, by 5:00 PM.
Role and Responsibilities of CMD
The CMD will serve as the chief executive of ECIL, accountable to the Board of Directors, the Government of India, and shareholders. Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Leadership: Ensuring the effective functioning of ECIL to achieve corporate performance goals.
- Indigenous Development: Promoting self-reliance in India’s Atomic Energy and Defence programs through indigenously developed electronics.
- Market Diversification: Expanding the company’s portfolio into new product lines and international markets to strengthen competitiveness.

Eligibility Criteria
The Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) seeks candidates with proven expertise in management, operations, and strategic development.
1. Education & Experience:
- Engineering Graduate, Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant, or Graduate with an MBA/PGDIM from a recognized institute.
- Minimum five years of cumulative experience in the last ten years in Finance, Operations, Business Development, or Project Management within large organizations. Experience in the electronics or electrical sector is desirable.
2. Age & Service Limits:
- Minimum age: 45 years.
- Internal candidates must have at least 2 years of residual service, while external candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of service remaining as of the date of vacancy.
3. Employment Status:
- Candidates must be regular employees of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), Central Government Group ‘A’ Officers (including Armed Forces and AIS), State PSEs, or Private Sector companies with an average annual turnover of at least ₹2,000 Crore.
Compensation and Tenure
- Pay Scale: ₹2,00,000 – ₹3,70,000 (IDA).
- Tenure: Five years from the date of joining or until superannuation, whichever is earlier.
