New Delhi: The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has marked a significant milestone in the digitisation and inclusivity of rural governance in India. Payments through the eGramSwaraj platform have crossed ₹3 lakh crores cumulatively, while the AI-powered SabhaSaar tool now supports 23 Indian languages, enhancing financial transparency and participatory decision-making across Gram Panchayats.
eGramSwaraj Facilitates Seamless Digital Payments
The eGramSwaraj platform, developed under the e-Panchayat Mission Mode Project and integrated with the Public Financial Management System (PFMS), has revolutionized financial governance at the Panchayat level. Payments are now routed directly to vendors and service providers in real time, ensuring full traceability and accountability.
During the financial year 2025–26:
- ₹53,342 crores were transferred through the eGramSwaraj-PFMS interface.
- 2,55,254 Gram Panchayats uploaded their development plans online.
- 2,50,807 Panchayats made online payments, contributing to a total of 2,59,798 PRIs onboarded on the platform.
- The platform now hosts 1,60,79,737 vendors, reflecting its large-scale adoption and trust among stakeholders.
This digital shift has replaced traditional cash-based, paper-driven systems with a faster, fraud-resistant, and accountable process, boosting transparency in rural financial management.
SabhaSaar Expands to 23 Languages, Promoting Inclusive Governance
The AI-powered SabhaSaar tool, launched on 14th August 2025, automates the recording of minutes, attendance, resolutions, and action points during Gram Sabha meetings. Originally available in 13 languages, the platform now supports 23 Indian languages, including Assamese, Bodo, Dogri, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Manipuri, Nepali, Santhali, and Sindhi.
As of January 29, 2026:
- 1,11,486 Gram Panchayats have utilized SabhaSaar for automated meeting summarisation.
The tool has been recognized nationally for its innovation, receiving:
- Winner in the Artificial Intelligence category at the Technology Sabha Excellence Awards 2026 by The Indian Express Group.
- Silver Award in the AI for Social Impact category at the Economic Times GovTech Awards 2026.
This expansion ensures that Panchayat governance is more accessible, inclusive, and linguistically representative, empowering citizens to engage actively in local democratic processes.
