Engineers India Limited (EIL), under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, along with its wholly owned subsidiary Certification Engineers International Limited (CEIL), has marked a major milestone by playing a key role in the successful construction of the Chenab Rail Bridge — the world’s highest railway arch bridge.
Inaugurated recently by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, the bridge towers 35 metres above the Eiffel Tower and is being hailed as an “engineering marvel” and a testament to the strength and vision of a new India.
EIL and CEIL provided comprehensive engineering consultancy and quality assurance services for the project, ensuring strict compliance with international safety and structural standards. Advanced technologies such as Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) and other Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods were employed to confirm the bridge’s integrity.
Constructed in the challenging Himalayan terrain, the Chenab Rail Bridge serves as both a critical strategic link and a global benchmark in complex infrastructure development. The organisations stated that the project represents not just a technical triumph, but a moment of national pride showcasing India’s growing prowess in extreme engineering and design.
With the national flag now flying high atop the Chenab bridge, it stands not only as a vital transport route but also as a future tourist attraction and enduring symbol of Indian engineering excellence.
