Ujjain – The holy city of Ujjain is set to host the Nishadraj Sammelan on July 12, an event dedicated to celebrating the legacy and upliftment of the Nishad community. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will attend the event and announce a series of development initiatives aimed at strengthening the livelihoods of fishermen across the state.
Honouring a Legacy of Devotion and Equality
Minister of State for Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare, Narayan Singh Panwar, expressed gratitude for the positive initiatives being taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Yadav. He highlighted that Nishadraj Guha, a central figure in the Ramayan, remains a timeless symbol of devotion, service, and social equality.
“Through the Nishadraj Sammelan, the government is honouring the traditions of the Nishad community and aligning their future with modern tools of progress,” said Minister Panwar. He underlined that the conference in Ujjain — a city with deep spiritual significance — aims to promote social harmony while fostering empowerment.
CM Yadav to Launch Key Development Projects Worth Over ₹150 Crore
At the sammelan, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will launch and lay the foundation for multiple development schemes aimed at modernising fisheries infrastructure in the state. Highlights include:
- Bhoomi Pujan of 453 Smart Fish Parlours worth ₹22.65 crore
- Launch of aqua park with an underwater tunnel at a cost of ₹40 crore
- Installation of 3060 fish cages in the Indira Sagar reservoir, worth ₹91.80 crore
- Additionally, Dr. Yadav will distribute:
- 430 motorcycles with ice boxes
- 396 cage aquaculture units
- Acceptance letters for feed meal assistance
- Awards to exemplary fishermen and fisheries cooperative societies
He will also transfer ₹9.63 crore in pending wages to the fishermen’s federation and distribute royalty cheques — all in a single-click digital transfer.
Towards a Self-Reliant Madhya Pradesh in Fisheries
Minister Panwar emphasized that Madhya Pradesh has emerged as a leading state in fisheries production. With the implementation of schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Matsyakaar Kalyan Yojana, the state is making strides in empowering traditional fishing communities through infrastructure, credit, and technological support.
“The Nishad community, which has long been synonymous with dedication and simplicity, is now on a path of prosperity through modernity,” said Panwar.
