New Delhi: State-run Engineers India Ltd (EIL) has signed a contract with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, to act as the Project Management Agency (PMA) for the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS). The collaboration aims to advance India’s electronics manufacturing capabilities and strengthen the Make in India initiative.
Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) Overview
The ECMS is a flagship scheme under MeitY’s broader policy framework, which also includes the National Policy on Electronics 2019 and Production Linked Incentives (PLI). With a total budget outlay of Rs 22,919 crore, the scheme is designed to:
- Attract global and domestic investments across the electronics value chain.
- Boost domestic manufacturing and value addition in electronics components.
- Increase India’s share in global electronics trade and reduce dependency on imports.
By enabling investment, manufacturing, and technology development, ECMS seeks to transform India into a global electronics hub.

EIL’s Role as Project Management Agency
As the Project Management Agency, EIL will provide end-to-end support, including planning, monitoring, and execution of the scheme’s projects. EIL will also assist in facilitating policy implementation, stakeholder coordination, and project assessment, ensuring that ECMS achieves its objectives efficiently and effectively.
