India Launches EPFO Digital Pavilion at IITF 2025 at the Bharat Mandapam That Could Transform Your PF Experience Forever

New Delhi: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has taken a bold step into the limelight at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025, inaugurating its very first modernised digital pavilion at the Bharat Mandapam exhibition centre in New Delhi.  The inauguration was performed by Union Minister of Labour & Employment, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, signalling a clear shift towards a more tech-enabled, service-oriented EPFO.

Background of IITF 2025

The IITF, an annual flagship trade event, has historically served as a platform where government departments and organisations demonstrate their initiatives, innovations and public-service offerings.

This year, EPFO made its debut at the fair, choosing to present a refreshed identity marked by digital empowerment and citizen-friendly engagement.

Key Features of the EPFO Digital Pavillion & Importance

The pavilion features interactive zones designed for all age‐groups: a kids’ play area, live “nukkad natak” (street-play) performances, puppet shows, a selfie-booth and painting competition for children. These elements aim to make the experience not only informative but also engaging.

Such features bring multiple benefits:

  • Enhancing awareness among workers and their families of EPFO’s services and rights.
  • Reinforcing transparency, efficiency and large-scale service delivery — as highlighted by the Minister.
  • Demonstrating EPFO’s shift from back-office operations to public-facing, digitally enabled engagement.

Major Challenges & Implications

While this move is forward-looking, EPFO must address certain challenges:

Digital divide: Many workers, especially in informal sectors or remote areas, may not have easy access to digital tools or may require substantial hand-holding to benefit from digital services.

Awareness & engagement: Simply setting up a pavilion is not enough — sustained outreach and ongoing communication are needed to truly impact membership behaviour.

Scalability: Piloting engaging elements at a trade fair is promising; scaling these features across EPFO offices and outreach channels country-wide may prove resource-intensive.

Security & data privacy: As EPFO becomes more technologically enabled, ensuring data protection, secure authentication and smooth user experience will be imperative.

The implications of successful execution are significant; a more digitally engaged workforce, streamlined fund management, improved satisfaction among members and overall stronger trust in social-security institutions.

Way Forward

To build on this momentum, EPFO and the Ministry of Labour & Employment may consider:

  • Rolling out mobile/virtual versions of the pavilion experience so that workers unable to visit IITF can still engage online.
  • Conducting road-shows and local-level activations across districts and industry hubs to replicate the trade-fair experience.
  • Offering digital literacy sessions targeted at members in semi-urban and rural areas to bridge the access gap.
  • Leveraging feedback mechanisms at the pavilion (digital kiosks or QR-based surveys) and using the insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring robust security frameworks and easy-to-use digital interfaces to build trust for the next generation of EPFO services.
